Dunkeswell Bowls Club has welcomed in a new season.

The club travelled to Feniton for their first match of the new term. They went down by 58 shots to 39, but all thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.

The one disappointing feature for the club was that they could only muster nine players for the trip and that underlines the need to recruit new blood into the club.

The club is holding an Open Afternoon which they do hope new folk will get along to, on Saturday, May 5. The event runs at Throgmorton Hall, Dunkeswell and also on the bowling green between 2pm and 4pm.

The club will have sets of bowls for allcomers to use and there will also be coaches available to offer help, general advice and tips.

Bowls is a terrific sport to be involved with and does have a wonderful social side to it given it’s a moderate sporting activity and played outdoors in the fresh air. It is a sport that embraces all ages and both sexes. It certainly helps to improve general health and offers you the ideal opportunity to make new friends and improved social well-being.

All that is required for those who attend on Saturday is a pair of flat bottomed shoes.

Dunkeswell bowlers are a very friendly lot and anyone taking the step to join them will surely quickly reap the benefits!
