Dunkeswell Rovers were indebted to an 85th minute goal from Jake Pulman to secure all three points against visiting Newton St Cyres in a Fresha league Division Six meeting.
The Dunks were not at their best and needed some resolute work from defenders Sid Berry, Sean Wills, Jay Berry and Matt Woollacott to keep the Mid Devon men at bay.
When the formidable back four were breached the visitors found Dunks gloves man Will Cowley in great form.
At the other end of the pitch Ryan Pike and Charlie Stephenson were always a threat, but it was not until five minutes from time when a Sean Wills free-kick was turned home by Pulman to lift the Dunks to second place in the table.
