The Dunkeswell Bowls Club season has just about finished and there remains one last game to be played, that being a meeting with Uffculme on Saturday (September19).

The past month has been a successful one. The Over-60s Triples League side won each one of their last six matches and so completed the season sitting mid-table in Division Four.

Two friendlies were also won. With the Honiton green under water on the day of the Dunkeswell visit, the match was moved indoors and the home side were defeated 98-39! A meeting with Chardstock was won 62-55.

Sadly the scheduled match with Culm Vale was cancelled as the Mid Devon side could not raise a team – this the second time this has happened this season to Dunkeswell against Culm Vale!

The club enjoyed a terrific afternoon in honour of retiring chairman Richard Morris.

A round-robin was played involving 20 members.

A spider was won by Tony Thorne after which everyone enjoyed a marvellous bring-and-share tea. What’s more the weather played its part too to make the whole afternoon very special. One terrific thing to come out of the afternoon was that it gave an opportunity for three new novice members to meet a few more members.

There are still some internal matches to play and then it’s the annual presentation lunch which this year is being held at Deer Park on October 22.
