It s been a good week for all the Men's League teams at Lyme Regis BC.
It's been a good week for all the Men's League teams at Lyme Regis BC. The Championship side took all 10 points off visiting West Moors, whilst the A and B teams took eight points apiece off Wellworthy A and Wellworthy B, respectively.The Ladies only secured two points away to Bridport, despite a strong performance from Chris Barber's rink. The club secured two wins out of three in the friendlies, retaining the Inter-Club trophy when playing Budleigh Salterton. The ladies are keeping up the pressure in the Edna Paisley, with a 6-0 win over Wellworthy Blue. The men didn't fare so well in the Percy Baker with only two points against Wellworthy. The winning rinks were: E Clarke, J Lovell, J Smith and S Kury 31-10 and L Eveleigh, P Gray, E Tuck and J O' Sullivan 20-16.In the Men's over-60s triples league Feniton B team beat local rivals Ottery St Mary B team by 34-30. The winning rink was C Cheesely, F Imms and D Conbeer 22-12.Feniton went down by 59-80 away at Phear Park. The only winning rink was J Dibble, N Cox, J Smith and D Conbeer. In the evening the Men's team were convincingly beaten by Madeira in the Foxlands Trophy, Feniton conceding with a few ends left to play Feniton A team recorded a narrow victory over Honiton B in the Men's over-60s triples league by 35-32 The winning rink was E Cox, R Smith and R North 20-10. The final match of the week saw Feniton have a convincing win away at Bradninch 82-58. The winning rinks were: C Cheesely, J Blackmore, G North and A Coyne 26-14, L Crook, J Livings, R Clarke and R North 24-15; J Dibble, P Usher, G Blackmore and J Smith 17-12.CHARDSTOCK - A members' and friends afternoon was concluded with tea, when a one rink, and one triples match came to an abrupt end due to rain on June 6.Intermittent rain showers brought the waterproofs from players' kitbags for a men's match at home to Madeira (Exmouth) on the following Monday.Sadly, the Chardstock team could only win on one rink by two shots, and were well beaten on the remainder.Scores: M Rogers lost 16-33, P Compton lost 9-24, N Denslow won 15-13, M Toms lost 10-21.SEATON BC - Another week of excellent results for both the ladies and the gents. In the first round of the Grace Matthews Top Club Competition away to Budleigh, 10 Seaton Ladies won four disciplines to go through to the next round in confident fashion.Marion Vessey, Anne Brown and skip Julie Grant have gone through to the last 16 of the County Triples, winning a close match against a Sidmouth Triple skipped by Jill Bishop 17-15.Not to be outshone, Seaton pairs R Rowley/R Woolland, L Tooze/B Rutter and J Wright/R Carnell, have been joined By Cox/ Tillier of Honiton in the section semi-finals of the Grater Pairs.A good fighting performance by the County Trophy squad against the very strong Madeira side, resulted in 2 wins and 2 draws for Seaton, giving them 14 of the possible 16 points on offer. Away rinks, skipped by Les Tooze 17-17 and Roger Woolland 23-18, laid the foundations for the two home rinks, who didn't disappoint, with Phil Crichard's rink 15-15 and Ray McDonald's 26-19 completing a fine win. Ray's rink made a remarkable comeback, 5-16 down after 11 ends, a change of jack length saw them take the following eight ends scoring 21 shots in the process.The over-60s, after two defeats, came back to winning form against Morchard Bishop, winning on both rinks 49-22. Top rink Dave Ford, George Mabon and Ron Rowley 28-8.There were three friendly matches this week and four mixed triples against Tiverton Borough at home.Seaton won 73-60 against Tiverton. Top rink: Angie Mayhew, Shirley Parkhouse and Don Yaxley 32-8. Against Heavitree away, three ladies' triples won 57-45: Top rink Jill Richards, Nancy Collins and Joan Miles 24-11.Three triples of men lost 46-49. Top rink: Roy Young, David Yardley and Keith Miles 20-15. Against Ottery St Mary at home all four mixed rinks won, 89-54. Top rink: Darcy Ashman, Gwynydd Brazendale, Gerald Knott and Hazel Smith 29-13.
