Chard and District Swimming Club won top visiting trophy at the Avalon Meet at Millfield pool for their efforts and some impressive individual performances, especially from the local swimmers from this area added to the day.

Jack Fish, 16, gained a South West Region Qualifying Time in the 50m butterfly event with a time of 28.76. He also obtained South West Region consideration times in the 50m freestyle (26.14) and 200m freestyle (2.08.49).

Jake Hallam and Luke van den Barselaar, both 13, also obtained their South West Region Qualifying Times. Jake won the 100m butterfly event 1.07.38; his winning continued in the 200m butterfly, 200m breaststroke and he was second in the 200m freestyle. Luke achieved his time in the 100m backstroke: 1.10.34. He also won the 50m backstroke, 200m backstroke and 50m freestyle. He secured a second in the 100m freestyle, third in the 200m freestyle and fourth in the 50m breaststroke.

Abigail Dare, 12, won the 50m backstroke, was third in the 200m individual medley and 100m butterfly, fourth in the 200m backstroke and sixth in the 100m backstroke whilst Saskia Osborne, 16, won her 50m backstroke event, coming second in the 100m backstroke and fourth in the 50m butterfly.

Other Chard & District swimmers achieving top six positions/medals were:

Jamie Pullinger, 11, came third in the 50m backstroke and 100m breaststroke; fourth in the 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 100m and 200m backstroke and 200m IM, and fifth in the 50m freestyle. Elsie Emery, 11, came sixth in the 200m freestyle.

Hannah Pullinger, 13, came second in the 50m and 100m breaststroke; third in the 50m freestyle; fourth in 100m and 200m freestyle and 50m backstroke; fifth in the 100m backstroke and sixth in the 200 IM. Ben Fowler, 13, came second in the 100m backstroke; fourth in the 100m freestyle, and sixth in the 200m freestyle. Laura Coombs, 14, came fifth in the 100m butterfly.

In the 15 years and over, Jess Harrington was fifth in the 100m backstroke.

Charlie Kendall, Jade Hawkins, Marsha Emery, Susan Ross, Jay Kindred, Nathan Roberts, Mollie Simpson, Jake Harvey, Jenna Emery, and Steph Hallam.
