TWO pony races precede the Axe Vale point to point races on Sunday, April 26.

TWO pony races precede the Axe Vale point to point races on Sunday, April 26 at Stafford Cross, Seaton.The junior riders - aged 9-15 - battle it out for area points in two races, with the first off at noon. There have been a maximum 10 ponies entered in each race, with the 148s racing over a mile and a half course. The point to point proper has received 161 entries and the maiden has been divided giving an eight race card.The course watering started on Monday to provide decent going for what is always a competitive day's racing.The opening members' race will get the day off to an exciting start with local horses battling it out. There is a bar, refreshments, tote and tradestands. The course is just off the A3052 at the Colyton turning.For more information contact Shirley Cork on (01884) 821752.
