Bryony and Pippa win area finals

A huge end-of-season crowd enjoyed competitive racing in the Devon and Cornwall Area point to point pony racing finals at Umberleigh.
A huge end-of-season crowd enjoyed competitive racing in the Devon and Cornwall Area point to point pony racing finals at Umberleigh. Ravara Super Ted (Pippa Glanville) was enjoying a firm ground hat-trick when he won the 138 race, making the running with Bronze Lawrence (Hannah Welch) in the early stages, forging clear and then staying on to beat Talponciau Perfect Print (Barnaby Treneer) and Bejowans Bouquet (Heidi Lewis) in a close finish. Local rider Jake Bament was fifth on Silver Cloud and has enjoyed a great season with this pony. Next year Jake, along with Tom and John Dalton-Morgan, Anna Wotton and Chester Williams will be challenging for the higher placings.And in the 148 final, the favourite, Tarka (Bryony Frost), battled gamely with local pony Whinney Widget (Josie Gordon) and then shrugged off the challenge of Ivory Girl (Henry Armstrong) to take the 148 final.138 final: 1, Ravara Super Ted, Pippa Glanville; 2, Talponciau Perfect Print, Barnaby Treneer; 3, Bejowans Bouquet, Heidi Lewis; 4, Bronze Lawrance, Hannah Welch; 5, Silver Cloud, Jake Bament; 6, Diptford Trina, Tom Dalton-Morgan; 7, Highland Ginny, John Dalton-Morgan; 8, Fudge, Anna Wotton; 9, Jumping Jack, Chester Williams.
