Rosanna Hendley, riding her horse, Chilli Pepper, representing the Lambert’s Castle Riding Club, recently won the junior novice Challenge competition at the Festival of the Horse held at Aston le Walls, Northants.

The ‘Challenge’ competition consists of a show jumping course with plenty of technical questions. As the round is finished, riders immediately begin an up-to-height 90cm cross country course, the whole competition timed.

Rosanna was one of the very few competitors to jump a double clear round out of over 90 competitors and finished with only 0.8 time penalties.

This very good score helped the riding club team to take second place. The junior novice team members were: Rosanna, Molly and Grace Savage and Mollie Hansford.

The junior intermediate team at the same competition did well to finish seventh in their class. Team members were Layla Felgate, Billie Ann Warren, Steph Bere and Sophie Benger. Layla finished ninth as an individual on just nine penalties.

Both teams from Lamberts Castle Riding Club qualified for the National event last autumn at the area 12 qualifying competition near Bristol.
