RAVARA Super Ted (Pippa Glanville) won their second pony race in a row when they took the South Tetcott 138 race prize. Runners were well bunched up at the start and there are some promising young riders coming along for example the John and Tom Dalton-Morgan, Jake Bament, and new riders this season Donald Comer-Calder and Imogen Darke. But the four ponies which have dominated the point to point scene this year managed to break away coming off the top bend. Area leading pony Bronze Lawrence (Hannah Welch) looked likely to add this race to his collection but Bejowans Bouquet (Heidi Lewis), Talponciau Perfect Print (Barnaby Treneer)and Ravara Super Ted battled hard, Ravara Super Ted breaking clear at the run through to score by six lengths. All the drama focused on the 148 race. Four morning withdrawals left a five-pony card but it was far from disappointing. It looked like it might be four when the connections of Flareon (ridden by Chloe Grove) were unable to saddle the mare. Sportingly the parents of the other riders got together to help and Amanda and Ross Darke finally got her tacked up and the pony was able to take part. Unfortunately, Ivory Girl (Henry Armstrong) dwelt at the start, but the other four were taken along by Ginger Biscuit (Bronwyn Buttery) and coming down the home straight they were four in a line - Ginger Biscuit, Flareon, Whinney Widget (Josie Gordon) and Charm II (Charlotte Hawker). Ivory Girl was making ground hand over fist and would surely have won but for the tardy start, but Flareon was driven out by Chloe Grove to win by a length from Charm II with Whinney Widget a neck back in third. Results: 138 - Ravara Super Ted, Pippa Glanville; 2, Bronze Lawrence, Hannah Welch; 3, Bejowans Bouquet, Heidi Lewis; 4, Talponciau Perfect Print, Barnaby Treneer; 5, Newook Second Thought, Victoria Sleep; 6, Diptford Trina, Tom Dalton-Morgan; 7, Silver Cloud, Jake Bament; 8, Highglen Ginny, John Dalton-Morgan; 9, Solo Breeze, Donald Comer-Calder; 10, Grantley April Showers, Imogen Darke. 10 ran, 6l, 1/2l, 1.43.148: 1, Flareon, Chloe Grove; 2, Charm II, Charlotte Hawker; 3, Whinney Widget, Josie Gordon; 4, Ginger Biscuit, Bronwyn Buttery; 5, Ivory Girl, Henry Armstrong.
