After a highly successful opening meeting that attracted the same large crowd as last season, Taunton is all set to host its second card on Thursday November 27, when the action on the course gets underway at 12.35pm.
After a highly successful opening meeting that attracted the same large crowd as last season, Taunton is all set to host it's second card on Thursday November 27th, when the action on the course gets underway at 12.35pm. With a total prize pot of £46, 250 up for grabs the afternoon starts with two hurdle races, the first of which is The Golden Knob Juvenile Novices' Selling Hurdle Race over two miles and about one furlong.The Beauty of Bath Maiden Hurdle Race over two miles and about one furlong is up next and is worth £4878 to the winner.The Audrey Chudleigh Memorial Beginners' Steeple Chase at 1.40pm, over two miles and about half a furlong has total prize money of £7800. The sponsor of this race, Mr. G.Pritchard will present a challenge trophy and a memento to the winner. In addition to which a cash rpize of £50 will be presented to the groom of the best turned out horse. The most valuable race of the card is The Leath Jewellers and Valuers Challenge Trophy, 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle Race (Class 3), at 2.15pm over two miles and about three and a half furlongs, and has total prize money of £10,750. The race sponsors, Taunton based Leath Jewellers and Valuers, will also present a trophy to the winning owner and £50 to the groom in charge of the best turned out horse.The longest race of the afternoon is The Stable Business Park Clients Day Out Handicap Steeple Chase, over two miles and about seven and a half furlongs and carries total prize money of £8500. The race sponsors, who are located at Rooksbridge just off junction 22 of the M5 will present a memento to the winning owner and a £50 cash prize to the groom in charge of the winning horse.The afternoon concludes at 3.25pm with The Sops in Wine Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 3) over two miles and about three and a half furlongs, which is worth £5854 to the winning horse.You can now buy a monthly Tattersalls ticket and save 33%. The ticket is valid for the month of issue only and entitles you to attend all three meetings in the calendar month for the price of two. Tickets are available for January, February and March only and must be purchased in advance. Taunton Racecourse offer a free bus service on all racedays, which departs from Taunton Station one hour before the first race and then picks up at Taunton Bus Station a few minutes later. The bus returns from the course 30 minutes after the start of the last race. The next meeting at Taunton Racecourse is on Thursday December 11th when the first race gets going again at 12.50pm.
