Charlie Rush’s prolific and improving horse Indiana Bay, trained in Bude by Jill Dennis, aims to add the Mixed Open at the East Devon point to point to his tally.

the races take place this weekend at Ottery St Mary (Saturday, March 2, first race 11.20am), writes Lee Glanville.

The gelding was unbeaten in three races last term and cruised home in the Exeter Racecourse Intermediate race at Buckfastleigh a fortnight ago thereby qualifying for both the racecourse hunterchase final in May and the Connollys Red Mills Intermediate hunter chase final at Cheltenham.

The card kicks off with members’ race where Martin Sweetland, Sarah Pidsley, Anne Carter, Robin Pike and Sue Trump have runners.

The Brightwells Open Maiden could well be divided on the day, 31 entries having been received and with 25 in the eight-year-olds and over maiden that too could be split giving a full afternoon’s entertainment. The course is found just off the Tipton St John to Ottery St Mary road, near Fluxton.
