Eveleigh wins tense Feniton final

Weekend handicap competitions
It has been a quiet week for Feniton Bowling Club with only the over-60s triple league matches to report.
The A team played away at Starcross and lost by a single shot by 31-32. The winning rink was Allan Godfrey, Andrew Evans and Dick Arundell 19-11.
The B team secured the maximum eight points defeating Chagford by 41-24. The winning rinks were Frank Jones, Tony Young and Roger Clarke 22-10 and Ted Goodenough, Frank Imms and Don Conbeer 19-14.
The weekend was taken up with both the men’s and ladies’ handicap competitions. In the semi-finals of the men’s competition Tony Kury defeated George Skinner 27-16 and Andrew Evans defeated Don Conbeer 21-14. The final was an absorbing contest which was won by Andrew Evans who defeated Tony Kury by 21-15.
In the semi-finals of the ladies’ competition Lyn Eveleigh defeated Gill Smith to reach the final where she met Ruby Veitch, who defeated Joss Edwards 21-14.
The final was a tense match with Ruby going into an 8-0 lead. However, Lyn slowly but surely pegged her back and ran out the winner on a sudden death last end by 25-21.
