EXETER Racecourse's annual children's day on Tuesday, April 13, which is free to all children aged 17 and under, and Pony Club members, will mark the launch of Junior Jumpers, the Westcountry's first ever racing club dedicated to young racegoers which has been set up in conjunction with Wincanton Racecourse.

For children aged 17 and under, it will entitle those who join to a membership pack, an exclusive quarterly news letter and access to special stable tours and activity days which will take place at each racecourse.

Children's day at Exeter has been billed as one of the best free days out in the Easter holidays. With raceday tours, questions and answers and autograph sessions with some of Britain's top jockeys, the chance to ride a mechanical horse, quizzes, goody bags and the famous running race down the straight as well as racing ferrets, a stilt walker and the Countryside Alliance providing further entertainment, it looks certain to be a fun day out.

With the endorsement of the Pony Club and support from both the British Horseracing Standards and Education Trust and the British Racing School, the annual event has grown from strength to strength.

Steven Clarke, managing director at both Exeter and Wincanton, said: "Racing can seem intimidating to children, but we want them to come and enjoy a really great day out with us." To coincide with Children's Day, Exeter has a family offer of two adult tickets for 20 (booked via the hotline on 0844 5793005) and book into the restaurant and children U12 eat for just 5. Children must be booked in advance to attend children's day to ensure they receive their goody bags. Please contact Alice Everitt on (01392) 832599.
