With two matches played whilst your reporter was in the sun – as indeed you were – the title has been decided – but second place is till up for grabs, writes Graham Ingram.
Flamingos clinched the title with a brace of wins from their last two games meaning they cannot now be caught at the top of the table.
They finished their campaign with wins over Pixies (52 -38), a game that saw a rare performance from Teresa Youens at GA that earned her the Player of the Match award.
Sara Green took the award for Pixies. Flamingos title winning victory was over JD Tyres by 57-37, with Karen Hall taking the accolades for Flamingos and Tanya Broom for JD.
OPG and Hi Q are both on 24 points, having drawn earlier in the season, with OPG in second because of a slightly superior goal difference.
OPG recorded two wins from as many games, with a 60-40 success over Otter Valley Dairy thanks to fine shooting from Denise Meyers whilst Charlotte Broom took the OVD award for Player of the Match.
Their second win was against pixies by a 64-34 margin with Kirsty Wackley in fine form and Sara Benson doing well for Pixies. Hi Q also notched up a pair of triumphs – the first against JD Tyres (64 -37), whilst the second was at the expense of Sidmouth Toucans (62-43).
Emma Truscott and Caroline Quick were the Hi Q stars whilst Amy Phillips shone for JD and Emma Davey for Toucans.
Sidmouth Toucans had been involved in a close contest against Tip Top Trees with Rachel Cann playing well for the Trees and Sarah Sparks for Toucans. The game had started with Tip Top Trees 26-24 in front, and by half way they were 42-38 ahead.
Going into the final period it was all square at 47-47, but in the final session 3Ts did just enough to record a 55-53 win.
