Feniton A end Over-60s Triples League season on a high

In the men’s Over-60s Triples League the B team lost on both rinks to Belmont B by 27-42 thereby losing their slim chance of promotion, writes Roger Smith.
Nevertheless, they finished third in Division Seven for the second season in succession.
The A team finished on high note defeating visitors Okehampton A by 44-27. The winning rink was D Sanders, A Smith and R Smith (28-9).
This result meant that they finished in the top four in Division Three.
The mixed team suffered three defeats this week. Firstly, they lost 102-99 to Cullompton with the winnings rinks; L Morrris, L Crook, J O’ Sullivan and L Ley (29-10) and F Jones, V Jones, G Phillips and I Veitch (22-19).
Then, they were well beaten 117-82 at Culm Vale by 82-117 where the only winning rink was F Jones, E Cox, G North and I Veitch (21-17).
Finally, they entertained tourists Sunningdale and lost a most enjoyable match by 85-100. The winning rink was M Evans, B Halse, J Rolph and R Smith (22-17).
On the Sunday the Club President, Mr Michael Chipperfield laid an excellent spread for President’s Day.
On a pleasant afternoon that was enjoyed by all competitors, the competition was won by F Jones, G Smith and I Veitch (plus 41) and the runners-up were J Skinner, D Conbeer and Ro Clarke (plus 17).
