Feniton men’s B team have been crowned champions of Division Five of the Exeter and District Over-60s League Division Five, writes Roger Smith.

The title, and with it promotion to Division Four, was confirmed after the team defeated Cullompton 39-33.

The winning rink was C Maynard, L Ley and R Clarke (27-14). The A team ended their season on a high note as they rounded things off with a 35-31 success over Marina to secure a mid-table finish in Division Two.

The winning B team rinks were the ones of M Evans, M Chipperfield and R North (17-14) and E Cox, R Binmore and I Veitch (18-17).

The ladies Over-50s League team also had a good week as first they had scheduled opponents Exonia concede to them and then they defeated Morchard Bishop 43-19 to leave them close to the top of their league.

The winning rinks were P Figg, A Coyne and D Phillips (22-8) and G Blackmore, D Bowden and R Veitch (21-11).

The mixed team had a very good win against Chardstock in the East of Exe League, winning 84-48.

The winning rinks were R Lovering, A Coyne, D Coyne and I Veitch (24-9), T Crawford, M Whitcomb, J Livings and G Phillips (22-8) and P Bright, A Morgan, S Kury and J Skinner (19-11).

The mixed team also enjoyed success. They had an 80-54 success against Bradninch with the winning rinks being the ones of V Murdoch, A Smith and I Veitch (26-9), L Crook, D Bowden and L Ley (21-15), P Bright, B Bowden and R Veitch (19-17) and T Cox, S Kury and J Livings (14-13).

They then had an 89-68 success over Seaton and, in this match, the rink of L Crook, T Cox , S Kury and D Sanders achieved a ‘hot shot’ - scoring all eight shots on one end on their way to an overall win of 25-17. The other winning rink was the one of V Murdoch, B Bowden, A Morgan and J Livings (29-11).

The Club Invitation Pairs Triples competition was won by Glynda Blackmore and Graham Phillips, who defeated Di Phillips and Dave Sanders by 14 shots to 10.
