Feniton men’s Over-60s Triples League A team continued their excellent start to the season last week, writes Roger Smith.

Their latest success was a 44-20 home win over Topsham B at with the winning rink being the one of J Livings, A Smith and R Smith, sealing an emphatics 31-5 victory.

The ladies’ Over-50s team also maintained their good start to the season with a win away against Belmont by 49-16. The winning rinks were G Blackmore, D Phillips and C Granger 35-6 and A Coyne, G North and S Kury, 14-10. Unfortunately, in the Grace Matthews Competition, they lost by four rinks to one at the hands of Madeira. The winning rink was G Blackmore, D Phillips and R Veitch, 18-13.

In a friendly match against Chardstock, the ladies won by 34-26. The winning rinks were A Coyne, G North and C Granger, 19-12 and, D Bowden, A Pritchard and R Veitch, 15-14.

In Club’s first East of Exe League match at home to Honiton the mixed team lost by 53-73. The only winning rink was T Cox, S Kury, A Evans and R Smith, 17-14.

The mixed team enjoyed a good 72-62 win against visitors Madeira. Here the winning rinks were; T Young, V Jones, A Smith and R Smith, 22-10 and J Wheatley, B Bowden, D Downs and A Evans, 18-15.

This was followed by a narrow win away against local rivals Honiton by 75-69. The winning rinks were M Whitcombe, J Livings, Ru Clarke and R Smith, 24-14, C Maynard, E Cox, J Smith and Ro Clarke, 17-16 and T Cox, A Morgan, R Veitch and J Skinner, 18-17.
