Feniton bowlers make superb start to new season

Feniton Bowling Club has made one of its best ever starts to a season, writes Roger Smith.

In their first season in the Two Counties League, they had a good win against local rivals Ottery St Mary, beating the Otters 77-53.

The winning rinks were S Crawford, J Smith, I Veitch and A Kury (29-9) and G Blackmore, D Phillips, L Crawford and K Lovering (20-11).

The mixed team enjoyed a resounding win against Dunkeswell winning on all three rinks and overall by 79-32.

The winning rinks were A Pritchard, F Jones, J Livings and R North (31-7), G Blackmore, B Bowden, D Conbeer and R Veitch (25-10) and D Bowden, V Jones, G North and A Smith (23-15).

The run of success was continued with another win over Ottery St Mary, this time 115-70, with the winning rinks being; T Cox, B Bowden, A Coyne and R North (28-5), M Evans, Ru Clarke, A Evans and D Coyne (25-13), M Mitchell, A Pritchard, D Conbeer and R Veitch (21-10) and J Mitchell, J Livings, S Kury and R Smith (21-15).

Finally, a trip to South Molton saw Feniton win on all six rinks by the impressive margin of 146-69. The winning rinks were G Blackmore, R Lovering and R Smith (28-8), F Jones, A Coyne and I Veitch (25-6), T Cox, G Phillips and A Smith (30-13), V Jones, Ro Clarke and K Lovering (27-16), Ru Clarke, R Cooke and D Coyne (16-10) and L Crook, C Maynard and J Skinner (20-16).
