Feniton were edged out in a local derby at Tipton St John who netted the only goal of the game five minutes from time.

With boss Mark Kingdon a frustrated onlooker, he was unable to play after spending the week on the sick list, the Blues certainly had enough of the ball, and the chances, to have reversed the result!

Kingdon said: “We spurned two free headers from Paul Dowling corners in the first half which I’d expect to be hitting the back of the net so you could argue we only have ourselves to blame for losing to a late goal. In general it was what you’d call a scrappy game but let’s give Tipton credit as they did battle throughout and probably felt they deserved to edge it. However, it is frustrating that we got so close to taking something home for our efforts only to see it all slip away to a goal that, from my vantage point, had an element of off-side about it!”

There was one issue that upset Kingdon more than the result. He explained saying: “Unfortunately three of the players had spent Friday night throwing beer down their necks and it certainly showed in their performances. They may well find themselves warming the bench this weekend!”

Next up for the Blues is another derby with the Acland Park visit of Sidbury United. Boss Kingdon expects to be fully fit to be able to resume his place in the side.
