Feniton men suffer double dose of Section THree defeats

The men’s team lost their crucial Section Three runners-up match against Honiton in the County Trophy competition by 84-95, writes Roger Smith.

The winning rink was S Crawford, T Cox, I Veitch and A Kury (27-15). Further disappointment followed as the team then lost their Section Three Top Club meeting with Madeira, going down by three rinks to two!

The winning rinks were; I Veitch, A Kury and K Lovering (18-9) and C Maynard, G Phillips, D Coyne and J Skinner (16-12).

Their hopes in the Two Counties competition were also dented by a home defeat to Seaton (100-72) and here the winning Feniton rink comprised of R Lovering, D Phillips, L Crawford and K Lovering (29-16).

The men also went down 119-92 to touring side Hertfordshire Bowls. In this match the lone success for Feniton was the rink of T Cox, A Hughes, G Phillips and R North (18-17).

In the Over-60s Triples League, the B team defeated Chagford gaining six points, but the A team lost narrowly to Culm Vale C (35-33). Here the winning rink was J Livings, R North and J Skinner (24-9).

Feniton ladies lost their NBTL league match against Heavitree (48-23). However, there was a 111-69 success for the mixed team against Heavitree. Here the winning rinks were; M Evans, B Bowden, T Crawford and D Coyne (27-11), A Hughes, E Cox, D Phillips and D Conbeer (23-10), A Coyne, J Skinner, S Crawford and R Smith (28-16) and G Blackmore, G skinner, G Phillips and J Livings (20-12).
