Feniton made their customary losing start to the League season leaving skipper Mark Kingdon to lament: “I cannot remember the last time we won an opening day league game”.

Adrian Pullin top scored with 38 but the only other Feniton batsmen to make runs was John Pyle (21) in a well below par total of 105, knocked off with relative ease by hosts Ipplepen for the loss of just three wickets.

Pullin bagged a brace and the other went to the unfortunate Adrian Whitton who bowled his customary superb line and length but without any sort of luck at all.

Kingdon said: “We batted woefully and got what we deserved from the game. We were a little under-strength as we tend to be at this early stage of a new season but that must not excuse some poor individual performances. Next week we should have our Australian, Norman Bedford, as he is due to fly in this midweek and I am also very hopeful that Martin Swannell will also be available and the pair will certainly make us stronger.”
