Feniton Presidents Day proves a big hit

The Feniton mixed team had a narrow 91-88 win at Chudleigh, writes Roger Smith.
The winning rinks were M Mitchell, J Wheatley, S Kury and L Ley (29-10), V Jones, J Mitchell, M Evans and A Kury (26-13) and B Bowden, J Skinner, J Smith and A Evans(18-13).
This was followed by an 86-56 success against tourists Surbiton with the winning rinks being; T Cox, A Smith and S Kury (30-12), F Brooks, G Phillips and D Conbeer (26-13) and E Goodenough, T Young and A Evans (18-14).
They then suffered a very narrow 77-76 defeat against local rivals Honiton.
The winning rinks in this match were; J Wheatley, T Young, A Coyne and I Veitch (24-13) and M Evans, V Jones, A Morgan and L Ley (21-18).

However, they made a fine return to form in defeating Chardstock, winning on all rinks, by 97-61.
The winning rinks were D Sanders, R Cooke, J Smith and G Phillips (26-8), D Bowden, K Lovering, D Phillips and I Veitch (29-13), G North, R Lovering, R Smith and R North (18-17) and B Bowden, L Ley, S Kury and A Kury (24-23).

The week concluded with the Club President’s Day at which president Richard North laid on an excellent spread.
On an afternoon of sunshine and showers that was enjoyed by all competitors, the Spider was won by Alan Smith and the competition was won by C Sanders, R Smith and G Phillips with a score of plus 20.
Proceeds from the day went to the ELF charity.
