Feniton Bowling Club’s new season started with an away fixture on Axminster’s artificial green losing by 68-80, writes Roger Smith.

The winning rink was A Brown, J Evans, A Evans and S Kury (26-8).

The second match was at home to local rivals Ottery St Mary.

Despite winning on four of the five rinks, Feniton only just squeezed home by 98-94.

The winning rinks were J Evans, G Skinner, L Ley and R North (26-12); F Jones, T Young, G North and J O’Sullivan (21-13); J Dibble, M Mitchell, G Phillips and D Evans (23-21) and S Nevill, J Wheatley, J Livings and A Kury (19-17).

Finally, in a match away at Hemyock, Feniton won 83-74.

The winning rinks were R Veitch, R Crowe-Swords, S Kury and I Veitch (30-14) and R Cooke, D Morris, G North and K Lovering (23-13).
