Feniton teams come first and second in Foundation Trophy competition

The Feniton Over-60s B team maintained their impressive form that has taken them to the top of Division 7 in the Exeter and District Triples league by defeating Uffculme A by 34-29, writes Roger Smith.

The winning rink was G Phillips, L Ley and R Clarke (22-9).

The A team managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory losing narrowly to Phear Park A by 28-32 in a match that they had for some time looked like winning. They secured a single point with a tied rink.

The mixed team entertained a touring team from Beckenham, Bromley and District and lost a close match, on a very hot afternoon, by 89-93.

The winning rinks were N Cox, A Hughes, J Livings and A Kury (17-13), L Crook, E Cox, T Young and J O’Sullivan (15-12) and F Jones, J Wheatley, L Ley and R Veitch (13-12).

In an evening fixture they defeated Dunkeswell by 74-62. The winning rink was V Jones, A Evans and A Kury (25-9), with two other rinks being tied.

On Sunday, Feniton held its annual Foundation Trophy competition.

Five local clubs were invited to compete in the competition.

This year’s winners were a Feniton team comprising of EG Blackmore, E Rolph, D Conbeer and A Kury with a score of plus 23.

The runners-up were another Feniton team made up of N Cox, L Ley, J Rolph and S Kury with a score of plus 12.
