Five Axe Valley Runners ran the recent Exeter Marathon, which was superbly organised by Exeter City Community Trust and attracted a fine number of competitors enjoying the challenge.
The event was a two-lap course, run mostly along the river and canal, starting and finishing at the Quay. A moderate wind started to develop during the marathon, making it hard going for the runners when heading inland.
Joel Seward was first AVR home in 2:48:17, attaining an impressive 5th place overall, especially considering he ran Manchester marathon just four weeks ago. Joel was followed by Rupert Pady 3:11:25, Kerry Board 4th lady in 3:45:03, Vicki Wraight, 4:14:01 and Angela Kerr 4:32:36.
Chard’s Wayne Loveridge won the latest Seaton parkrun in 17:02 with young Innes Fitzgerald 2nd in 17:40 and Adam Hennessey 3rd, 19:19. Meanwhile, Iain Westworth and Paul Lloyd were the first to model the new AVR club top.
