Fifty year wait for a trophy for Richard Osman is over

After some fifty plus years of golfing, winning the odd monthly medal and stableford, Richard Orsman finally will get his name engraved on a trophy, but he will have to share it with Nigel Garwood, writes Dave Bruce.
That is because the pair, who played some amazing golf, won our club's famous Brian Abbott foursomes trophy scoring a splendid 33 points with 9/16ths of their combined handicaps.
I doubt they will forget the fifth where, following a poor drive from Richard, Nigel recovered things with a fine iron shot to just short of the green for Richard to the atone for the drive with an incredible putt to earn the pair four points for the birdie, nett eagle!
The ultimate winners were out playing with low handicapper, Alan Morgan and Adrian Bishop.
Alan reported that it was the first time he had played with Messrs Garwood, Orsman and Bishop (known within the club as the infamous GOB), and true to say, that, after 53 years of playing with members of different abilities, he has never experienced such a performance.
He reports that he cannot wait to be invited to play with them again within the next 53 years!
Old timers, Alan Vincent and Sid Pember were second, but only on countback from young Gilbert Cox and Bob Graham, making a warm welcome back to the club, both on 29 points.
Dai Thomas won Monday's Roll-Up and Alan Vincent Wednesday's with 27 and 26 points respectively over 15 holes.
