Axminster Town skipper Jonny Hurford was the star of the show as the Tigers made it three wins in seven days and four in succession with a 2-1 win at Bovey Tracey.

Fresh from a midweek 5-0 mauling of Crediton United a confident Town side tore into the South Devon side and it was the splendid Hurford who fired his side into an 18th minute lead.

Eleven minutes later Adam Wheatley doubled the lead. The home side halved the deficit within minutes of going two down, but the Tigers were not to be denied and went on to claim all three points.

It was very nearly 3-1 to Town with teenager Tony Pinder denied by the frame of the goal with a late effort.

On Saturday Town are in Throgmorton Devon Premier Cup when they make the short trip to Budleigh Salterton.
