Archant

Axmouth United slumped to a hugely disappointing 2-0 defeat at Exmouth Town Reserves.

Boss Laurie Forino lamented: “We had a shocker! Quite simply we never got going. Yes, there was plenty of effort but I know we did not do ourselves justice against what are, for sure, a good side. But we were poor on the day. We do however, have great belief in our camp and I am sure we will bounce back.”

Had it not been for a superb show from keeper James Goodhew then the United defeat may well have been heavier.

Exmouth scored early and added a second on the half hour after which it was always going to be a struggle for United against a well organised home side. Jamie Hughes had the best of their chances, his coming in the first half, but, by the end, United were well beaten.
