Archant

Beer were edged out by a single goal at Willand Rovers Reserves.

The Fishermen put in a solid performance in a contest that was played out on a heavy surface.

The only goal of the game came in the opening stages.

Thereafter, Beer gave as good as they got, and went close on a number of occasions, but they could not find a way past an impressive host rearguard.

The defeat was a sixth of the term for Phil Crabb’s side and next up is Saturday’s visit to Furzebrake of Seaton Town.

The Fishermen have already been beaten twice at normally ‘Fortress Furzebrake’ this term and will be determined to dent the visitors hopes of being the Fresha League leaders on Christmas Day, something that a home success would likely seal on Saturday.
