Beer 3:0 Clyst Valley

Fishermen boss Phil Crabb was very honest in his post match assessment of his side’s latest home success.

He said: “To be fair they (Clyst Valley) looked a very good side and I’d have to say the final score line flattered us. The big thing for me on the day was that we were clinical in our finishing. Another big plus was the way we defended so well from start to finish.”

James Melville scored the only goal of a closely contested first half. After the break further goals arrived from Adam Wakeley and Luke Bartlett.

Despite the three goal deficit the visiting side continued to pose problems and it needed some exceptional central defensive play from Mike Wheeler and Steve Grigg whilst Steve Jones fully deserved to net himself another clean sheet in the Beer goal.

Next up is a visit from high flying Newtown. Crabb says: “When we played them in Exeter earlier in the season we were under-strength and the team has evolved since then. I am looking forward to testing our side against one of the best in the Premier Division.”
