Millwey Rise shared four goals with visiting Sampford Peverell when the sides met at Cloakham Lawns in a Macron Devon and Exeter League Division Four game, writes Dick Sturch.

Without several regular players and with manager Dan Murnane the only substitute, Rise had to rely heavily on the club’s second team to fill the vacancies, which they did admirably, to help earn a point. In a repetition of their recent game against Lyme Regis, the home side played some excellent football and went into a deserved lead with a goal from Jack Farrant.

They had several more opportunities to increase the score, but as the game progressed Millwey faded which allowed the Mid Devon side to score twice and go in front.

However, to their credit, Rise did not give up and it was no more then they deserved when a second half Dave Bridges goal ensure parity at the final whistle.

For Millwey, stand-in keeper Jack Bennet and midfielder Dave Bridges worked hard to secure the draw, but the undoubted Man of the Match was young striker Jack Farrant, who is sponsored by Jurassic Coast Developments.

On Saturday (September 8), the Rise first team host Newton St Cyres first team in the Bill Slee Cup (2pm).
