Copplestone Cobras 3, Honiton Devils 4

Honiton Town Under-10 Devils were forewarned by coach Sean Brown that their trip to Mid Devon would present them with their toughest game of the season.

The coaches fears were underlined when the home bagged a third minute lead, However, Brown has moulded this Devils team into an organised unit and, inspired by the passing of Luke Matthew and Sam Foster and the attacking energy of River Leisk they were level minutes later thanks to Connor Brown’s great strike.

Brown struck again to give Devils a 12th minute lead, but a lack of concentration at the back gave the home side the chance to level. There was still time for River Leisk to fire devils into a 3-2 interval lead. After the break Sam Foster provided the assist and Hayden Owen the finish to make it 4-2.

Once more a lapse in the defensive area allowed the home side to close the gap to a single goal. Copplestone then threw everything at Devils, but two fine saves Domini McCreadie denied them as Devils saw the game out to a successful conclusion. Jai Freemantle was skipper for the game.
