Axmouth United bounced back from their Devon and Exeter League Division Three narrow defeat the week before by winning 3-1 at North Tawton, writes Chris Salter.

Axmouth started nervously and fell behind after five minutes when they failed to defend an aerial ball from a contentious free-kick.

Despite the early setback, the visitors rallied, playing some nice football and creating several chances before Charlie Clarke latched on to a through-ball to level things up in the 25th minute.

Although Axmouth increasingly dominated, half-time arrived with the game still all square. The second half continued in the same way until the 57th minute when a terrific run and clinical finish from United’s Man of the Match Jacob Clode saw the visitors into a 2-1 lead. Twenty minutes from the end Charlie Clarke made sure of all three points when he stole in front of the keeper to flick home an excellent free-kick from Scott Dyer.

Manager Asa Sandman said they were three deserved points as the lads stayed calm and organised in what was a scrappy game and they had the ball in the net another three times only to be judged offside!
