The picture was taken following the Hurricanes' 5-1 cup defeat by Exwick Youth on Saturday. The match was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests. The Hurricanes went behind early on when a simple shot took a deflection, leaving Jake Crutchley-Davies in the Honiton goal as a spectator - only able to watch as the ball crossed the line. Exwick made it 2-0 in the 11th minute, but Honiton rallied immediately with some fantastic passing, freeing up Mason Rhode to cross and Alister Forsyth to expertly finish. The second half began with Honiton looking threatening whilst chasing the 2-1 deficit. Midway through the half though Exwick managed to score two goals in quick succession - the Hurricanes' goalie made fine initial saves for both, but the deflections landed at the feet of the fast reacting Exwick attack. Exwick eventually closed the match as 5-1 winners and go on to face Sidmouth Warriors in the quarter finals.Congratulations to Honiton's 'man of the match' Mason Rhode for an excellent effort and for some fine team play.
