Colyton Under-12s have completed another outstanding season.

In their Exeter and District Youth League campaign they finished as runners-up in Division two and so will play their trade in the top section next season.

In the East Devon Youth League, the team emulated their efforts as an Under-11 team ,securing a league and cup double.

In their league campaign they won eleven of their 12 matches and drew the other one and finished the campaign with a goal difference of plus 100!

In the cup final they faced a well drilled Lyme team that applied a discipline defensive line that caught the fleet-footed Colyton strikers offside numerous times. A change of tactics and some clever inter-play resulted in a 7-2 Colyton success.

Team boss Craig Board said: “I’m really proud of the boys this season. They’ve played through a number of issues, but still came out winners. Our thanks go to the league committees who give us the opportunity to play. Next season some of the boys are going to pastures new and we wish them all the best. We shall be seeking to recruit a couple of players to help us challenge in the top division of the Exeter and District Youth League, played on Saturday morning’s.”

Anyone who would like to join the team needs to school year eight in September. Prospective players can call the manager, Craig Board, on 07799510863. Alternatively, new players can attend the Friday evening training session which are continuing through until Friday, July 3, after which a short break will be taken before a new season is tackled.
