Uplyme Football Club held a charity football match in aid of the Phoebe Coombes appeal for the Devon Air Ambulance. In December, two year old Phoebe was diagnosed with meningitis and flown by air ambulance to hospital. After a long battle she was allowed home, and is growing stronger every day. Her parents wanted to raise money for the Devon Air Ambulance and Uplyme Football Club were only too happy to help. Chairman Gavin Fowler said: "Gavin Coombes kindly sponsored the football club's tracksuits, so the team wanted to help him. We organised a charity match against the local Fire Brigade. It was a friendly game with a lot of banter - but I think everyone will agree, the highlight was when Phoebe's dad Gavin Coombes scored a goal! The match and raffle raised £280.
