Axminster Town were without a game on Saturday and that was unfortunate for Sam Dibling who must not want the season to finish given his recent run of goal scoring. He has been on fire of late and followed up strikes against Liverton and Plymstock United with all four of his side's goals in a 4-3 win at Alphington last midweek. Boss Ray Self said: We saw in Exeter just what we have effectively 'been missing' for large swathes of this campaign. "That marked his seventh in four games and that, at any level of the game, is fabulous finishing."They were beaten 4-0 at Exeter University on Monday night as the students scored twice in each half. Tigers' Gary Knight suffered a thigh strain and will now miss the remainder of the season. On Saturday Town host Plymstock before travelling next Wednesday night to Okehampton to complete their season. The Tigers' Third team were also in action on Monday night, sharing two goals with visiting AFC Sidford, Howard Midworth gave Town a very early lead but the visitors levelled after the break and were worthy of a draw from a 'typically end of season' game of football.Axminster Town Reserves continue to go 'head to head' with Witheridge Reserves in the chase for the Senior Four title. A Ritchie Emmett treble helped them to a 5-2 win over Newton St Cyres with the other goals coming from Ben Turner, 16, who netted from close range and a 'screamer' from Michael Knight that flew in to the net from fully 35 yards. Tigers' boss Kevin Turner said: "We played some good stuff again and the finishing of young Ritchie was a class above. We simply have to keep winning and hope Witheridge drop points between now and our final day meeting.
