Archant

Upottery are one of three Fresha League One sides still to sport a perfect 100 per cent record after an 8-3 Glebe Park success over Westexe Rovers.

Goals from Jake Phillips, Mark Tucker, Ed Frampton and Jason Kennard were answered by two from the Tiverton side to see Upottery into the break with a 4-2 advantage.

In the second half Steve Morris bagged a brace and there were also goals from Owen McCreadie-Taylor and Nick Trenchard as the villagers ran out comfortable winners.

Centre back Frampton was outstanding and richly deserving of the Man of the Match award.

Upottery Reserves also win, ending 3-2 victors on their visit to Tedburn St Mary. However, it took some ‘paint-stripping’ half-time words before the side got their act together! Trailing 2-1 at the interval, Upottery produced a much improve second half show to deservedly bank the points. It was an unfortunate injury to Dean Crabb – he limped off with hamstring woes – that seemed to coincide with a change of fortune for the side - Dan Taylor played up top and had a big impact. After Matt Frost had levelled to make it 2-2, James Dingle was felled in the area and George Catcher stroked home the resultant spot kick. Dan Hole had scored the first half goal.

Left back Matthew Button-Stephens was named the Upottery Man of the Match.
