Dunkeswell delight as Stephenson treble sinks Langdon

Dunkeswell Rovers were 3-2 winners at Langdon to make it three games unbeaten and see them consolidate a top half position in Fresha League Division Six.
Upon arrival at Langdon the Dunks found a very wet surface which was never going to enable them to play their preferred passing game. What transpired was something of a ‘slog in the mud’.
Rovers edged ahead when the impressive Jacob Cobb White slipped a neat pass through the defence for Charlie Stephenson to calmly slot past the goalkeeper. That proved to be the only goal of a keenly contested first half.
After the break the lead was doubled with the Cobb White and Stephenson combination again pivotal with the latter netting his second. However, almost immediately the home side hit back to make it 2-1.
Cobb White and Stephenson combined well for the third Dunks goal with Stephenson sealing a splendid hat-trick. The home side scored a second in the dying embers of the game, but the Dunks were not to be denied a third away success of the league season.
Dunks boss Jamie Berry said: If we are to stand a chance of promotion this year it’s the games like this away to Langdon that we really have to win. The players did just what was asked of them with Jacob Cobb White and Charlie Stephenson central to the good things we did in the game.”
On Saturday the Dunks entertain title-chasing Alphington who have been beaten just once this league season.
