Dunkeswell denied by last gasp Railway leveller

Dunkeswell produced a fine all-round display and were denied a deserved three points when hosts Railway Club scored a 91st minute equaliser.

The Dunks were beaten 7-3 by the Exeter side when the pair met at Dunkeswell on the opening day of the season.

However, this was a far more organised Dunks side and they started well playing some slick passing football which saw them into an early lead with Sid Berry tucking the ball home from a Ryan Pike corner.

The home side, unbeaten in four prior to the match, levelled just before the interval.

The Dunks restored their lead when Charlie Stephenson rifled the ball home following another well-delivered corner.

Railway Club pressed hard for a second equaliser, but the Dunks back line, aided by a number of smart saves from goalkeeper Will Cowley, proved a match for the best the Exeter side could offer up.

However with added time being played, Railway grabbed that late leveller.

In what was a fine all-round Dunks display the individual honour went to left back Dan Matthews.

On Saturday Dunkeswell entertain a Bradninch side they beat 4-1 in Mid Devon in early November.
