Farrant impresses in Millwey Rise win at Dunkeswell Rovers

Millwey Rise were 4-0 winners when they travelled across East Devon to meet Dunkeswell Rovers in a Macron League Division Five encounter, writes Dick Sturch.

On a sweltering afternoon, Millwey succeeded in passing the ball around without expending too much energy.

They had the upper hand, although it took until the eighteenth minute and an Alex Rocket 25-yard thunderbolt before they had anything to show for their efforts.

Dunkeswell did break away a few minutes later, but the final effort was ballooned over the bar.

Sam Burke was on the end of a rash last-minute tackle by the home keeper outside the area for which a yellow card was shown when in fact a red one was probably more deserved.

In the latter stages of the half, Jack Farrant and Sam Turner had shots blocked by the keeper.

In the second period Millwey began pushing for a second goal and Farrant had an early effort pushed wide by the keeper.

With eight minutes gone the same player fed the ball to Nathan Womersley, who confidently slotted it into the home side’s net.

Sam Burke then took full advantage of a keeper’s error to add a third goal and finally Farrant, who had an excellent game, ran through the defence to score the fourth and final goal.

This was certainly a most satisfying result for Millwey in what was the penultimate game of their league campaign. Young Jack Farrant together with Sam Turner and Sam Burke were prominent in this confident performance.
