Archant

Thorncombe 5, Farway Reserves 1

Illness and injury once again decimated the Farway side and they were only able to travel with a bare eleven.

On a soft surface after the recent rain they fell behind to a deflected free-kick. The response was instant and clinical with Dan Williams getting on the end of a sweeping move.

However, rather than build on that, they quickly fell behind again, though the nature of the free-kick from which the goal arrived was of the questionable variety!

It was not until the closing stages that the home side seized control as they had fresh legs available from the bench whilst Farway were running out of steam after a valiant collective effort! Three goals were conceded in the final ten minutes to leave Farway beaten, but certainly not disgraced.

Boss Nigel Banks said: “We put so much in and I am very grateful to all the players for the effort they put in. The margin of victory is tough on us for we were in the game until the 80th minute.”
