Sidmouth Warriors 1, Honiton Devils 2

Honiton Devils Under-10s became the first team to defeat Sidmouth Warriors when they won a close encounter last Saturday, writes Sean Brown.

The Devils started brightly with Connor Brown and Ewan Evans delivering a good defensive display and the midfield duo of skipper Sam Foster and Luke Matthews at their industrious best.

Strike pairing River Leisk and Dominic McCreadie-Taylor proved a handful for the Warriors back line and the only goal of the first half arrived when a Foster shot found its way into the Warriors net off a defenders leg. After the break Warriors increased the tempo and levelled which led to a game of end-to-end action! As the game ended its closing stages a neat passing move involving McCreadie-Taylor and Haydon Owen ended with Foster firing the ball home. Warriors responded well and in the last few minutes strong defending by Jai Freemantle and good goal keeping by Joe Evans kept them out to see Devils to a handsome success.
