Freemantle at the double as Honiton Youth Under-15s win in Exeter

Honiton Youth Under-15s played only their second game of 2018 when they visited Exeter’s City Raiders on Saturday where they secured a richly deserved 4-1 victory.

Illness and unavailability meant that the team travelled into Exeter with a bare 11, which meant a number of positional changes.

The home side opened the scoring midway through the first half, but stand-in striker Jack Hawker restored parity with a deft lob and the game remained level through to half-time.

Honiton began the second half well and began to press the ball higher up the pitch. The game continued to be end-to-end with both sides looking to find a second goal. Honiton were given the chance to go ahead when Hawker was bundled over in the area, but the penalty kick was saved.

With time ticking down, Caleb Freemantle was pushed forward from midfield and he struck with two quick-fire goals to see Honiton into a 3-1 lead.

There was still time for Dan Loosemore to create some room in the penalty area before rifling home the fourth and final goal.

Honiton Youth Under-15s remain keen to recruit a couple of additional players for their squad and anyone in school years nine or 10, who is interested in joining a friendly and progressive club, should contact Stuart Ward on 07752 599518.
