Honiton Under-12’s shared two goals with Ottery St Mary in their first outing of the new season at St Rita’s.

A closely fought game saw Honiton concede a breakaway goal midway through the first half but, to their credit the home side battled back well and levelled when Caleb Freemantle ran clear and finished well from Matthew Ward’s fine pass.

Those first half goals proved to be the only goals of a well-contested game. Players who caught the eye for Honiton were Ben Spence, who gave his usual tireless display and Laura-Beth Outram, who showed composure in making several important defensive interceptions; there was also an encouraging debut from Max Salter.
