Honiton Devils and visiting Copplestone shared six goals in an entertaining Exeter and District Youth League Under-11 encounter.

Devils used a new formation for the game with Connor Brown and Sam Foster paired as the two front men and, in a bright start, a Luke Matthews corner was headed home by skipper Zac Harrison to give Devils the lead.

Full-back River Leisk made a fine run that ended in another corner and once again the Matthews delivery was excellent and met by Harrison to make it 2-0.

Some poor defending, combined with a ten minute below-par spell, saw Devils pegged back with the visitors netting twice to level things up. Back came the home team and a clinical Foster finish saw them into a 3-2 interval lead.

After the break striker Brown took on goalkeeping duties and Dominic McCreadie-Taylor took off the gloves to play outfield.

Chances came and went and, as so often happens in such situations, the visitors scored in a breakaway attack to leaves honours even. Late on another superb Matthews set-piece was met by Ewan Evans but his shot was marginally wide of the upright.

Sam Cottingham was named the Devils’ Man of the Match.
