Honiton Devils Under-11s gave a good account of themselves in a game that eventually saw them lose 4-2 to high-flying Brixington Blues.

The Devils started slowly and allowed the visitors two early chances but, debutant goalkeeper Dominic McCreadie-Taylor was equal to them making a brace of fine saves.

The gloves man was however, beaten on 15 minutes, but the Devils response was goof and they began to make chances, particularly through the right wing efforts of Sam Foster which saw skipper Zac Harrison go close.

After the break, prompted by the midfield quartet of Zac Harrison, Connor Brown, Hayden Owen and Dominic McCreadie-Taylor, the latter have switched from goalkeeping duties, levelled when Owen thumped the ball home after a Brown strike was parried by the Blues gloves man.

Back came the visitors to net twice in quick succession to lead 3-1. With the clock ticking down a McCreadie-Taylor corner was headed home by Foster to set up a grandstand finish.

The Honiton Man of the Match award went to River Leisk for his outstanding display throughout today’s game.
