Honiton Harriers Under-9s bag win double in Mid Dveon

Honiton Harriers Under-9s produced some of their best individual and collective displays of the season as they returned from a visit to Mid Devon with two wins under their belts.

First up the youngsters took on hosts Copplestone and, after falling behind, levelled through Liam Osborne. The hosts regained the lead, but parity was restored when neat approach play by Ashton Beck set up Osborne to score his second. After the break, with keeper Jack Cowley excelling and Jack Beaven making a fine contribution, it was no more than Harriers deserved when Beck, playing only his second game for the Harriers, scored what proved to be the winning goal.

Next up Harriers took on Westexe and once again they emerged triumphant from another close encounter. This one was settled by a second half goal from Tyler Pendrick. Young Pendrick’s goal was his very first for the club!

Harriers coach Gary Osborne said: “The lads have once again done me proud. This team continues to develop and clearly each one of them is enjoying being part of what we are trying to do. The key to all this is hard work and accepting that we are not always going to win. However, if the boys keep listening then they will continue to improve. I want them all to enjoy playing this wonderful game.”
