Honiton start life in the second tier of the Fresha league tonight (Wednesday) when they travel to Exeter to meet Clyst Valley.

The Mountbatten Park men were promoted out of Division two last season and so begin this term just one more step fro the ultimate level of local league football.

Kev Blackwell is once again in charge of Town and he has once again out together a squad that he feels will do justice to the club, albeit at a higher level.

Blackwell is a club man through and through and, whilst he will publicly state the obvious that consolidation is the main aim at the higher level, privately he will harbour an ambition of taking his beloved club even higher in the football pyramid.

Blackwell and his men will start the season on the road for they play five successive away matches before their first game in front of home supporters on Saturday, September 27.

Before that Mountbatten Park meeting with Bickleigh they must negotiate visits to Clyst Valley, Bickleigh, Heavitree United reserves and Witheridge Reserves and also a cup tie at Cheriton Fitzpaine.

Town are at Bickleigh on Saturday and then go to Heavitree on the first Saturday of September.
