Honiton Town enjoy Trenchard Cup success over Sidmouth Town

Honiton Town Under-14s travelled to Sidmouth on Sunday to play an East Devon Youth League Stanley Trenchard Cup tie.

What made the game all the harder was that the side had not seen action for eight weeks!

Undaunted by their lack of action Town produced an outstanding collective display.

From the first whistle they worked for each other on and off the ball and scored three unanswered goals.

A 30-yard pile-driver from Ashley Munt and others from Will Bennet and Blake Freemantle eased Town into the next round.

Team boss Richard Ayres said: “That is the best all-round performance I have ever seen from this side. As for the Man of the Match, without question it has to be the entire team!”
